Top 4 Nokia Lumia 920 Camera Tips for Better Photos
Here are my top 4 Nokia Lumia 920 camera tips for better photos: Tip #1 Nokia Lumia 920 automatically checks the white balance, but you can change this in the settings if your photo has a weird yellow or bluish tint. Tip #2 Use Backlight scene if the background is bright. Tip #3 Nokia Lumia 920 takes awesome photos in low light, but change the exposure value to a negative number if the photo looks unnaturally bright. Tip #4 Instead of putting subjects right in the middle of the photo, move them a little to side and above or below the center. This is called the rule of thirds by many photographers. Nokia Lumia 920 Camera cinemagraph demo
Here's a demo of the Nokia Lumia 920 camera with cinemagraph. This was taken during the Windows Phone 8 event in San Francisco. Cinemagraphs are still photographs in which a minor and repeated movement occurs. They are saved in an animated GIF format and give the illusion that the viewer is watching a video. As you can see, Cinemagraph is integrated deeply with the Nokia Lumia 920 camera.

iPhone 5s vs Nokia Lumia 1020 Daylight Video
This is Part 2! See Part 1 here: http://youtu.be/B4N_CliHGUk For best results, watch this video in 1080p. Let's compare the Nokia Lumia 1020 vs Apple iPhone 5s on a daylight drive. Both the Nokia Lumia 1020 and iPhone 5s were handheld. Nokia Lumia 1020 on the left hand. iPhone 5s on the right hand. No tripods or other camera accessories were used. Both were set on automatic. Both the Nokia Lumia 1020 and iPhone 5s were recording videos at 1080p and 30 frames per second. I cropped their footages in half so they can fit in one screen for comparison. Who wins? Nokia Lumia 1020 vs Lumia 925 comparison
We are going to compare the Nokia Lumia 925 and the Nokia Lumia 1020. Here in the US the two devices are sold by different carriers. The 1020 is on AT&T, while the Lumia 925 is on T-Mobile. They're both available now. The Nokia Lumia 925 is thinner at 8.5mm compared to 10.4 on the Lumia 1020. The width and height are very similar. The 925 also feels a little bit lighter, but not so much. It also feels better to hold thanks to its smaller size. The 925 also doesn't have a big camera hump that's on the 1020. The Lumia 925 has an aluminum frame with a polycarbonate back while the lumia 1020 has a unibody polycarbonate material. The 925 feels a little more elegant because of the metal, while the Lumia 1020 feels more solid. They both have a 4.5-inch display with 768x1280 pixels resolution. They look the same in my eyes. They're visible in sunlight, the colors seem to pop, and they both support supersensitive touch so you can still use your phone with gloves on. One difference is that the Lumia 1020 display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 while the 925 has Gorilla Glass 2. According to Corning, the makers of Gorilla Glass, the third version is three times more damage resistant than Gorilla Glass 2. Above the displays are the front facing cameras. They both shoot 1.2 megapixels. Let's now take a look at the back of these two devices. The Lumia 925 has an 8.7 megapixel camera while the 1020 has a monster 41 megapixel camera. The 1020 also has a brighter xenon flash similar to other digital cameras while the 925 has a dual LED flash. Main advantage of the camera on the Lumia 1020 is that you can zoom and reframe photos without losing quality. I noticed the photos on the Lumia 1020 appear to be sharper as well. They both have optical image stabilization to keep the camera stable while you're moving. This helps in making videos smooth. This is also great for taking low light pictures without using flash. Both of these devices have the same high quality microphones that let you record loud events without distortion, so they're great for concerts. There is also stereo recording on both devices. You can find the speakers on the back of the Lumia 925 while the speakers on the 1020 are at the bottom. I'm actually very curious.. which speaker location do you prefer? Back or bottom? Let me know in the comments section below. On top are the microSIM slots. Push a pin through the holes to open. The audio jacks are located on top of both devices. What's different is that the microUSB port is on top of the Nokia Lumia 925. It's at the bottom for the Nokia Lumia 1020. If we turn these devices to the side we see that they both have the power, volume control, and camera buttons. The buttons on the Lumia 1020 have good feedback. I find that sometimes I have to press the power button on the 925 more than once to turn on/off the screen. A lot of the other things are the same on both devices. They have the same battery with 2000mAh capacity. They both support wireless charging using snap-on cases. And they both have a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor. There are differences in the RAM and internal storage. The Lumia 1020 has 2GB RAM and 32GB storage while the 925 has 1GB RAM and 16GB storage. I don't see any performance differences within the apps, but you'll definitely need to watch the storage space on the Lumia 925. These two devices both run the latest versions of Windows Phone 8. They support the same apps. They also both support LTE. The two major differences are the camera and size. If you want a thin Lumia smartphone, go for the Lumia 925. If you want the best cameraphone, go for the Lumia 1020. Choosing between the two isn't such a big problem because they are sold by different carriers here in the US. The Nokia Lumia 1020 is available at AT&T while the Nokia Lumia 925 is available at T-mobile. Your decision depends more on your carrier preference. http://thenokiablog.com

Nokia Lumia 800 hidden diagnostic tool demo
The Nokia Lumia 800 has a hidden diagnostics tool that provides tests for troubleshooting potential issues in the device. The tests are not necessarily complete and do not substitute authorized service repair, but I thought it'd be cool to show how to get access. Press ##634# at the dialer and the tool will open. It will also now appear in your app list. I don't think this is available on other Windows Phone devices from other manufacturers like HTC or Samsung. Coloud Boom for Nokia Review
Review of the Coloud Boom for Nokia in matte red. I have the red one here, but it also comes in cyan or yellow to match Nokia's colors. The packaging is very simple. It has a triangular shape that looks like a play button. In addition to the headphones, they included a user guide and a sticker. The design of The Boom is very minimalistic. They placed a small Coloud logo on the right side. The Nokia logo isn't flashy either... you can find it on the remote. There's not a lot cushioning on top, but it's enough to to be comfortable on your head. The headset is held together by a metal band. You can see that by folding the top cushion. It's very flexible, so the headset can fit small or large heads. The Boom fits on the ear, not around it. The ear paddings feel nice and comfortable. There are Left and Right signs on top to help you put them on the right way. They feel snug but not too tight, which helps block outside noise. The sound quality is surprisingly good for a headset that costs about $35. It's definitely a step-up from earphones that come with mobile devices, but without spending too much money. It gets even better if you use this headset with Lumia phones because of Dolby enhancement. Just go to settings, audio, then enhancements to turn it on. I think the best way to describe it is the sound feels 3 dimensional in the ear. The boom also has a mic and remote, but it only has one button. One-click for play, pause, pick-up, or hang-up. 2-clicks for forward, and 3 clicks for rewind. It doesn't support bluetooth or noise cancellation so there are no batteries to worry about. Another interesting feature of the Boom is called the Zound Lasso. This lets you wrap up the cord. It's a cool design, but I think it might bother people with devices that have the power button on top. The Boom is a great headset for its price. You'll get better sound than the earphones that are usually included with your phones. It costs about $35 and will be available in Nokia's colors in September. If you don't want to wait, you can go to Coloud's website or Amazon for more color options. Product Page: http://goo.gl/WjMZqC

How to unlock Nokia Lumia 920 (AT&T)
I'll teach you how to unlock the Nokia Lumia 920 on AT&T. The carrier is now more lenient in letting you do this. Unlocking the Nokia Lumia 920 will let you use SIM cards from other carriers. This is great if you are travelling overseas so you can use a local SIM. Here are the steps: - Go to AT&T Wireless Travel and International page http://goo.gl/Oghzx - Click Chat Now (on the right side) - Tell them you would like to unlock your phone so you can use it when you travel. - Give them your IMEI number. It's on your box. You can also go to settings - about phone. - They will give you a 20-digit unlock code. - Insert any SIM card other than AT&T in the Nokia Lumia 920. - Restart phone (turn off then turn on). - The Nokia Lumia 920 is going to ask for the unlock code. Type it in and press enter. - That's it! Others have been successful calling AT&T directly, but I think this way is faster. Try it and let us know if it worked for you. Nokia Lumia 920 Tap to Send Demo, NFC Sharing
Here's a new way of sharing photos with others. You tap your Nokia Lumia phone with another Lumia phone. In this video, I tried sending a photo from the Nokia Lumia 920 to the Nokia Lumia 810. It didn't work when I tapped it with the HTC DROID DNA. A connection was recognized, but not the photo. In order for this to work, you must have tap + sharing and bluetooth turned on in the settings. It might drain your battery faster when leaving them on, though. What do you think of this method of sharing? Will you be using it often?

Nokia Test Center Tour, San Diego
http://nokb.ly/177 Nokia has a network of 6 test centers around the world. We got to check out the one in San Diego last Monday. Every product goes through more than 200 different mechanical tests. They showed us some of these tests. My favorite part was analyzing with microscopes with 1,000 optical to 50,000 electron magnifications to see when and where possible micron size solderings may crack. Another one I liked was the drop test. The phone was analyzed with a high speed camera that can take up to 100,000 frames per second.

Nokia Lumia 1520 - More leaked photos
The Verge just uploaded a lot of photos of the the Nokia Lumia 1520. Keep in mind this device hasn't been announced yet. According to their source, the Nokia Lumia 1520 has a 6-inch 1080p display, 2 gigs of RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 32 gigs internal storage, and an SD slot. We don't know the total megapixel size for the sensor, but we see that the camera can take photos at 5 megapixels and 16 megapixels at the same time. For comparison, the Lumia 1020 takes photos and 5 megapixels and 34 megapixels. There's also a dual LED flash above the camera. The speakers appear to be on the back as well. They look small compared to the overall size of the device. There are 5 dots above the camera. We thought they were pins for a wireless charging cover, but they look smaller than usual. What do you think? On top, we see the audio jack. On the right side, we see the usual volume control, power, and camera buttons. The buttons appear to be glossy, so it's probably not aluminum like the buttons on the Lumia 1020. At the bottom, there's a microusb port. There's nothing else there. The left side is interesting. These are probably the slots for the SIM card and SD card. That's quick look at the Nokia Lumia 1520 before it's even announced! What do you think? Let us know in the comments section below! Nokia Lumia 800 battery life problem
Are you experiencing problems with the Nokia Lumia 800 battery? Nokia just confirmed that while the battery itself is fine, a software problem on certain variants is limiting the phone's ability to access the full battery capacity. A software update in early 2012 will fix affected devices, but Nokia can arrange for a replacement phone if you cannot wait. To check if your device is affected, check the diagnostic tool and select battery status. If your full charge capacity reads less than 1000 mAh then your phone is affected with this specific issue and you may find it is necessary to charge your phone more frequently than normal. Dialing ##634# opens the diagnostics tool. How's the battery life on your Nokia Lumia 800? Are you affected? Contact Nokia Care at www.Nokia.com/support if you need to get a replacement. iOttie Easy Flex 2 Car Mount Holder Review
We're looking for a car mount that we can use to shoot videos while driving. Here's a review of the iOttie Easy Flex 2 Car Mount Holder. It has over 600 reviews on Amazon so we thought we'd try it out. The suction is very strong and the arms hold the phone well, but the swivel is away from the center. This makes it very unbalanced especially when a heavier phone like the Nokia Lumia 920 is attached. There are 2 sample footage in this video. Nokia Lumia 800 Tango Update, Internet Sharing FINALLY!
The new Tango software update for the Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 710 started rolling out today. Go open up Zune for PC or Windows Phone Connector on your Mac to check if you're eligible. I'll need some time to play with the Nokia N8 to give a proper review. After a few hours, I can say the device feels really great in the hand. I took some photos and love the quality. The Symbian^3 OS feels very familiar, yet more refined. I'll explain in an upcoming review. On the downside, I struggled typing on the Nokia N8 so far. There's no QWERTY keyboard in portrait view (alphanumeric is available) and the layout of the QWERTY keyboard in landscape view is different. Nokia Lumia 920 Review - Pureview is amazing
This is the phone that a lot of us have been waiting for. It's the Nokia Lumia 920 and this is my review after using it for 2 weeks. This is actually my second Lumia 920. I had to exchange the first one because after resetting the device, it just got stuck at the Nokia logo. Since the red lumia 920's are sold out all over new york city, I ended up exchanging it for the white version instead. To summarize this review, I think the Nokia Lumia 920 is the best Windows Phone 8 device out right now. The exclusive apps from Nokia like Nokia Maps, Drive, and Music make the Lumia 920 a better buy than the Windows Phone 8 devices from HTC or Samsung. If you're an Android or iPhone user looking to switch, the Windows Phone 8 experience feels refreshing, but keep in mind some of your favorite apps may not be available yet... like Instagram. Also, I think it's great that Nokia made this phone available in bright colors instead of the usual black or white. There's cyan, red, yellow if you want to stand out. The camera on the Nokia Lumia 920 is amazing, mind-blowing, and magical at low light conditions. However, the daylight photos aren't that impressive. I'm not saying the photos are bad, but I think a firmware update or the addition of some camera settings like contrast and saturation will make them look better. In this review, I talked about some of the important features on the Nokia Lumia 920, but I think its major selling point is the price. You get so much for the price. Here in the US, the suggested price is only $99 with contract, but keep watching Amazon. They already had deals selling the phone for $49 and even just a penny with contract. Those who do not want to sign up for 2 year contracts can buy the phone for $449 at AT&T stores. In comparison the 16Gb iPhone 5 costs $199 with contract and $649 without contract. By the way the Lumia 920 has 32gb of storage already. So that's my review of the Nokia Lumia 920. How to Manually Update Your Nokia Phone to Symbian Anna or Latest Firmware
http://nokb.ly/162 A lot of you are still waiting for Nokia to release the Symbian Anna update in your country. If you are impatient, there's a way to do it manually. Here's a video how to do it, as shown on a Nokia N8. follow http://twitter.com/markguim WARNING!!! This voids your warranty and could possibly break your phone. I suggest waiting for the official update if you don't want the risk of breaking your phone! You'll need two applications: NaviFirm+ and Phoenix Service Software 2011. NaviFirm can download all the official Nokia firmware files necessary from Nokia's servers. You can grab the latest version from Symbian-Toys. Phoenix Service Software installs the files you downloaded from NaviFirm to your phone. I found the latest version in GSM-Forum. Just search for "Phoenix Service Software" and download it from the most recent post. The version I have in this video is Phoenix Service Software 2011.24.002.46258. The latest firmware (as of September 11th, 2011) showed version 24.1, but the firmware looked like it's meant only for Middle East and Africa. I knew for a fact that version 22.1 was Symbian Anna, so that's the firmware I selected for the Nokia N8 in this video. Let us know in the comments if any of the steps in the video are unclear. Good luck and enjoy Anna!

Nokia Lumia 710 vs HTC Radar comparison
The Nokia Lumia 710 just launched at T-mobile in the US, but there's another Windows Phone device the carrier is offering that may sway customers away. It's the HTC Radar. The Nokia Lumia 710 costs less than the Radar, but it appears that HTC's device offers more features. Here's my video comparison. Take a look. Display. The Nokia Lumia 710 has a 3.7-inch TFT display with Clearblack filter for better viewing outdoors. The HTC Radar has an SLCD display which looks great indoors, but is less visible outdoors than the Lumia. Other than that, I can't see any other differences. Build. The HTC Radar has a metallic body while the Nokia Lumia 710 feels plasticky. The sides on the Radar are also rounded, which makes it feel better to hold in the hands. Internals. Both the Radar and the Lumia 710 have the same 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S2 CPU with 512MB RAM. Speed and performance appear the same. ---------- CORRECTION: Radar has only 1GHz processor not 1.4 GHz like Nokia Lumia 710. --------------- Battery. The Nokia 710 has a user-replaceable 1300mAh battery while the HTC Radar has a 1520mAh battery that isn't removable. Since the two phones have the same processor and run the same OS, I assume the HTC Radar has longer battery life. Sorry, I haven't tried any scientific tests. Software. Both devices run Windows Phone 7.5, but there are 2 major differences. The Nokia Lumia 710 offers Nokia Drive for turn-by-turn voice navigation. The HTC Radar offers HTC Hub, which will be familiar to previous Andorid users. Internet Sharing is also available on the HTC Radar so you can use your laptop or tablet on the go. Hopefully a firmware update on the Nokia Lumia 710 will also make that option available. Camera. The HTC Radar has two camera features that I'd love to see on the Nokia Lumia 710. There's a built-in panorama camera which works great and there's burst shot mode where it shoots 5 consecutive photos. Conclusion. The Nokia Lumia 710 costs less than the HTC Radar, but the more expensive device comes with extra features. I hope a firmware update on the Nokia Lumia 710 will also make those missing features available to the users.

RED Nokia Lumia 920 Unboxing (AT&T)
We have the Nokia Lumia 920 to unbox today! It's now available in the US at AT&T stores for $99 with a 2-year contract and $449 without a contract. First Impressions: It quickly reminds me of my Nokia Lumia 900 but I noticed the curved display right away. It feels much better than the flat display on the Lumia 900. The buttons on the side and the camera strip on the back are darker than the one on the Lumia 900. This is actually made of Zirkonium, a substance that's supposed to be scratch and dirt resistant. I definitely like that because the buttons and strip on the Lumia 900 scratched easily. Not many people mentioned this, but I like the new USB charger. I like that it is taller and narrower than the one included in previous Nokia Lumia devices. This means more space for the power outlet for more chargers. There are plenty of unboxing videos on Youtube but you decided to watch this one, so thank you very very much for your support. I'll have the review up by next week after spending some time with the Nokia Lumia 920. BLOG http://thenokiablog.com FANS http://facebook.com/thenokiablog TWEET http://twitter.com/markguim

T-Mobile Nokia Astound review, Nokia C7 for T-Mobile USA
We look at the Astound package contents, a hardware tour, and a software walkthrough. The Nokia Astound features Symbian 3.1, which is newer than what's found on the Nokia E7, C7, and N8. It has a new browser, portrait QWERTY keyboard, updated Ovi maps with preloaded maps for North America, Fruit Ninja, Slacker Radio, and more. We don't really see apps added by T-Mobile here. There's a T-mobile "my accounts" app that let's you check account info. There's also T-Mobile mall which is just really a web shortcut. There's a Telenav GPS app, but I won't be using it since Ovi Maps is already free with turn-by-turn voice navigation. The Nokia Astound will be available April 6th for $79.99 with new contract.

Nokia Lumia 928 vs Nokia Lumia 920 comparison
Comparison of the Nokia Lumia 928 vs Nokia Lumia 920. Verizon customers who have been waiting to get the Lumia 920 is actually getting a slightly better model. The Nokia Lumia 928 is now available at Verizon for $99 with a 2-year contract or $499 without a contract. The Nokia Lumia 928 is a little bit taller, but the width and thickness are very similar. It's the shape of the two devices that make them feel different in the hands. The Nokia Lumia 928 feels boxy, compared to the curved sides on the Lumia 920. For the most part, the Lumia 920 feels better in the hands, but I think the sides on the Nokia Lumia 928 make it easier to handle for taking photos. They both have a 4.5-inch display with 768x1280 resolution. The Nokia Lumia 928 appears to be brighter. It is also more visible in sunlight. The colors seem to pop more on the Nokia 928, but there's one problem. The display on the Lumia 928 seem to have a green tint. It becomes more noticeable when you look at the display at certain angles. Above the displays are the front facing cameras. They both shoot at 1.3 megapixels. Both the Lumia 928 and Lumia 920 have the same 8.7 megapixel camera and optical image stabilization, but the Nokia Lumia 928 has an advantage. The 928 has xenon flash which does a better job at freezing moments at night than LED flash. Both devices take great low light photos, but you don't have to worry about people moving around when taking photos on the Lumia 928. There's also an LED light on the 928 for video recording at night. Both of these phones have the same high quality microphones that let you record loud events without distortion. They're great for concerts. The main microphone for video is the one on top, so make sure not to cover that while recording. Also on top are the microSIM slots. On the Lumia 928, you need to slide it out. On the Lumia 920, you need to push a pin inside the hole. The audio jacks are located on top of both devices. What's different is that the microUSB port is on top of the Nokia Lumia 928 and the bottom for the Nokia Lumia 920. On the sides are the volume controls, power button, and the deicated camera button. I like that the camera button is placed higher on the Lumia 928. This makes it easier to hold when taking photos. It gives space for the middle finger for extra stability when getting ready to shoot. A lot of the other things are the same on both devices. They have the same battery with 2000mAh capacity. They both support wireless charging. They both have a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB RAM, and 32GB of storage. The two major differences are the camera flash and the display. The Nokia Lumia 928 seems to better on those things than the Nokia Lumia 920. Chosing between the two isn't such a big problem because they are sold by different carriers. In the US, the Nokia Lumia 920 is available at AT&T while the Nokia Lumia 928 is available at Verizon Wireless. Your decision depends more on your carrier preference. Nokia Lumia PureView, Jolla Phone, Nokia Dogphone, Bright Pink Lumia
The biggest story in today's news video is that a Nokia Lumia phone with PureView technology is coming very soon. In a recent interview, Nokia's VP of Worldwide Developer Relations said it won't be long until we see a Nokia Lumia device at Verizon. He also said to expect PureView technology on Windows Phone very soon. http://goo.gl/VV3DR Stats from a Windows Phone app, Love Wallpapers HD revealed new Nokia code names: Nokia Dogphone and Nokia P4301. They're rumored to be Windows Phone 8 devices, but we don't know anything else. There are also no photos, so we'll have to wait for more leaks or official announcements. http://goo.gl/5LMNN There were really good reactions to Jolla in the last video! We find more info on the company from Finnish newspaper, Aamulehti. The CEO, Jussi Hurmola previously worked at Nokia for 12 years. Nokia is aware of the company and there are no problems between the two so far. A Jolla Phone is expected to release this year. http://goo.gl/yJy6M The Pink Nokia Lumia 900 was announced by AT&T and Nokia. It'll be available July 15th. This is a different color from the magenta Nokia Lumia 800 that we've seen before. AT&T's pink Nokia Lumia 900 has a brighter tone. http://goo.gl/MfETX ** Hit the LIKE button if you enjoy watching these quick Nokia news videos. Windows Phone is Facebook Phone. Nokia Lumia 800 demo
If you're a big Facebook user, you'll notice the close integration in Windows Phone. It's not even necessary to install any other app. After entering your account login at the settings menu, you'll be able to update status, check-in, post to friends' walls, check friends' updates, share photos, view albums, and start a chat. I shot a video to show you how it works on the Nokia Lumia 800. My favorite is the chat integration on the Nokia Lumia 800. On the Galaxy Nexus or the iPhone 4S, you'll need to install a separate app called Facebook Messenger. Even though the Facebook integration with Windows Phone is already brilliant, you can still choose to install the Facebook app from the marketplace.
